Group 4 Blog

This blog is run by a recently married woman, who does not give her name, and is primarily about her complaints about her husband. She has 902 fans on her Facebook page. This blog does not seem to address any important or controversial issues, just funny, common things that husbands do that annoy their wives. Specifically look at the post from December 20th titled "There's no 'I' in 'We'" and comment on that. Enjoy!

  1. Im going to respond to question 7 this week. After looking over this blog I was pleasantly surprised. This woman is really funny and makes a lot of good points about married life. From the many positive responses she gets from her viewers it seems that a lot of people, especially other wives, agree with what she is writing about. Many if them even comment on how relieved they are to know that they are not the only ones who get seriously aggravated by their husbands. I think showing other wives that they are not alone in getting annoyed by their husbands is a main component of this blog. It shows other married women that a lot of husbands forget to pick up their clothes and leave dishes everywhere and thats its okay to complain about it. It is successful in relieving other women of their worry that they are the only one’s who can’t stand their husbands annoying habits.

I think a lot of the readers of this blog respond to the ethos of the woman who is writing this blog. She does not necesarily claim to be an expert or anything about being married but just because she is married it gives her credibility to write about her husband. Looking at all of the comments it seems that most of the readers are woman who are looking for someone to relate to. Therefore the author gains more credibility because other married women are reading her blog because they think it is a accurate blog about husbands in general.

  3. Prompt #6.

I don't really think that the author of this blog introduces any new ideas, but she does create her posts about things that people don't normally say out loud. Usually, the only time you'll hear a woman complain about her husband is when she is talking with her other girlfriends about common things, but on this blog the woman is exposing every annoying thing her husband does to the world. Her honesty and humor appeals to the audience, which is typically married women and sometimes married men, and mostly everyone loves her posts. They all generally agree with her statements, and they don't need to be persuaded to agree because they have experienced the annoying behaviors themselves. These attributes make her blog really effective by allowing her to connect herself to a large audience that also wants to complain and let out their feelings about their spouses.

  4. Since no one talked about prompt number one I just want to give my thoughts on words that came to my mind. First, when I read the name of the blog and looked at the picture of the panel it came all together in my mind; This picture on top of the page is a picture taken of the annoying husband while he is sleeping, and as typical he is relying on his wife to do everything for him and then asking her if “We did it or not”!! , however, when he uses “we” in reality he means did his wife do it. However, the panel shows us a white man with black short hair sleeping on the sofa. I think the wife took this picture of her husband in order to show her blog followers the way her husband is sleeping in the wrong place wearing his daily clothes. It’s like making fun of her husband but an indirect way. Above the panel we can see the name of the blog written in black large font with a trade mark symbol.

I went through different posts and I noticed that the blogger posted a lot of picture of her daughter and her husband but I could not find any picture of her. The blogger maybe consciously did not post her pictures. Doing so every woman which has a husband can in a way empathize with the blogger. Every wife likes to complain about the husband with friends (other women). For this reason the blog is successful, a lot of comments have been made by other women because they found themselves in the same position. In fact I took as a sample the post "Here We Go Again…" and on 13 comments 2 are men which are not really agreeing with the blogger, the other 11 people are women which liked the posted and agreed with the annoyed wife. So the audience of this blog is for sure target to the women, annoyed or not annoyed.

After reading many posts on this blog, i have come to the conclusion that this blog does not do anything. This blog is full of this woman bitching about everything her husband does. She bitches about practically anything he does. A woman bitching about her husband or boyfriend brings about how the whole stereotype about women causing drama. When women talk about people behind their back, drama and rumors begin. The only person she should be talking to about the problems is her husband. Poor guy is getting bitched about every day. But i feel that this blog provides no effect on peoples knowledge other than this women seemingly hates being with her husband.

I find this blog absolutely pointless. It makes no points except that she is annoyed with her husband. She bitches about everything that her husband does. I feel like she should just go ahead a divorce him. Pretty much all of the comments are by women who also pretty much hate their husband. So i don't think that this blog really does anything, unless you are a woman who hates your husband and want to read about another women who hates her husband.

I think her most recent post tells the most about her ethos. She says she works 11 hours a day and has to take care of an eight month old baby. By complaining about how busy and stressed out she is, she gives herself the reputation of a hard working mother who puts her family first. This backs up her claim that her husband is lazy and annoying because she then is even more hardworking by comparison. It also gives other working mothers something that they can identify with, which expands her blog's fan base.

  9. I would repsonse to prompt 1
The first glance is that this bolg is vert simple. But it do convey the purpose of this blog. A man sleeping on the bed with the word: My husband is annoying. We can easily get the idea that her husband do not care anything in their home. Also if you notice the TM on the topic, you will find it is funny because this sign only appears on a brand. When you scroll down, you can find a lot of pictures about their life. I like this king of blog, which make fun of our daily life rather than political satire

  10. This blog must be primarily for entertainment and so that other women can find solace in the fact that they are not the only ones who think that their husbands do not carry their weight and just rely on their wives to do most of the work. If that is its sole purpose, then she has achieved it well, but if she is not a credible source for any information considering it is a very biased blog and we only hear about her experiences and opinions.

  11. I am going to respond to prompt number 1.
When I look at the blog, right away I can tell it is a wife complaining about her annoying husband. At the top of the page there is a picture of a man sleeping which is most likely her husband. The blog also says "My Husband Is Annoying" right by the picture. This blog is definitely geared toward her female audience. I think this blog is really funny and I think a lot of married couples can probably relate to this.

  12. I would like to respond to prompt #1:

After initially viewing the interface of this blog, I noticed one prominent feature at the top of the page. There is a picture of a man sleeping on the couch, and right above this picture is the title of the blog: "MY HUSBAND IS ANNOYING". It is important to note the usage of all capital letters in this caption. It better emphasizes the author's claim and reveals the idea that this annoyance is and has been an ongoing factor in their marriage, rather than it being a one-time or rare occasion. In addition, it is safe to assume that the man sleeping in the picture is her husband. By falling asleep on the couch, the husband is making no contribution to the household, presumably leaving the daily domestic tasks up to his annoyed wife. This picture acts as visual evidence to further accent the author's point, and provides the viewer with a firm understanding of the blog before proceeding to read it.
